Look out world, here I come!

A lot has been going on over here at Camp Alex lately. We decided that the hexagon shape of the superyard we recently bought was a bit too confining, so we purchased two more panels to upgrade his digs to a 6′x6′ square. Soon after that (about two weeks ago), Alex started crawling and has been on the go ever since. And if that weren’t enough to drive a new mom crazy, this past weekend he just started pulling himself up. Needless to say, there is going to be a lot of crying and boo-boo kissing as Alex learns to master his new skills.

I am so not ready for this… God help me- lol.

Baby Jail

Now that Alex is moving around more, he is not to be trusted to roam the living room freely. Last week, after watching him bang his head on the floor a couple of times, we ran out and bought this lovely foam floor mat and a Superyard. Not the most stylish arrangement for a living room, but style went out the window when we decided to have kids.

It’s not bad actually. At least Mom can get a few things done without the little monkey constantly clinging to her body (I mean that in the most affectionate way). Posted by Picasa

The Backward Bandit

Alex has recently been making great strides in his quest for self-locomotion. Much to his frustration, the harder he tries to propel himself forward, the farther backward he ends up.

I left him on the floor of our bedroom to play with his toys while I went to take a quick shower this morning (don’t call ACS- I had the door open and an eye on him the whole time!)… and this is where I found him:

6 Months!

Alex @ 6 Months Posted by Picasa
Alex just turned 6 months this past week. He is growing and changing so much every day that we can hardly keep up. Let’s see… not only does he loves to laugh and play, he can sit up on his own now, he can clap his hands, and although he can’t quite crawl yet- he can pivot around on his belly! Oh and did I mention how cute he is and how much he loves his Mommy [gloating]?! Ok, I guess he loves his Daddy too…

He just recently started solid foods- and oddly, he prefers his vegetables (green beans and carrots) over fruit (bananas, apples, pears). He had his first taste of meat tonight- in the form of pureed turkey- which he didn’t care too much for (can you blame him)?

Alex also enjoys going to storytime at the library every week with Mommy, where we sing songs and read stories with other mommies and babies (0-12 months). More impressively, he went to the “Daddy & Me Lapsit” last month (the more impressive fact being that Daddy took him there- lol)! Boy how I wish I could have been a fly on the wall that day to see Rich and his fellow daddies mouthing the words to silly songs they had never heard before. Truth is, I think Rich really enjoyed it. I know I always look forward to seeing Alex interacting with the other babies and getting to commiserate- I mean, chat- with the other moms!

Well, gotta go… Alex wants to play!
